Psychotherapy and Counselling

My Approach. Each person is unique, as is their life, and therefore so is the therapy and support they need. I trained as an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist which provides me with a structure that includes a number of different perspectives. I regularly attend courses and workshops that support my psychotherapy qualification.

Both psychotherapy and counselling can help with a range of psychological and emotional difficulties. I will discuss with you at the assessment session whether I believe short term counselling or psychotherapy is necessary (approximately six to twelve sessions) or longer term, open ended therapy. We will then make a plan together as to what would be the most helpful for you.  I work on a one to one basis with adults of all ages.

Young Persons 16-18 years: Psychotherapy and Counselling

I trained with the young persons section of Relate and have worked in schools and colleges. I now work with young people in my private practice who may be experiencing anxiety or other mental health issues. Coping with challenges that can happen during this period of life can sometimes be emotionally and psychologically difficult to navigate. Meeting with a therapist to explore your concerns and problems gives you a confidential and supportive space to reflect on these issues.  I have specialisms working with some forms of eating disorders, relationship trauma and anxiety disorders. These are some of the other issues I work with:

  • Divorced or separation within the family

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Trauma

  • Emotional regulation concerns

  • Bulimia Nervosa

  • Binge Eating Disorder

  • Self esteem and self worth

Life Coaching

I studied Life Coaching at the Centre for Coaching, London. The course is approved by the British Psychological Society and is an ISCP (International Society For Coaching Psychology) Approved Centre.

You may consider seeing a life coach if you believe your current situation is creating obstacles which are obstructing you from achieving your planned goal or outcome in life.

Coaching can be helpful if you have lost direction in your life and can encourage you to maximise your potential.

My approach: I will work with you to create a solution focused action plan based on a cognitive behavioural approach (CBT) to help identify limiting beliefs that are keeping you stuck or holding you back.

Life coaching can help you with:

  • Maximising your potential

  • Managing the fear of failure that keeps you from reaching your goals

  • Addressing your fear of change

  • Finding direction

The appointments will differ from psychotherapy and counselling as they are generally for 90 minutes with fewer number of sessions required.  The number of sessions will be discussed at the assessment session.
